DNV Global Solutions 10 Golden Rules For Excellent Customer Service

1/ The old adage, the customer is always right, should always be remembered. Your main objective is to service and satisfy customer needs and strive for customer satisfaction!

2/ Be a good listener. Take time to identify customer needs. Effective listening and undivided attention are particularly important on the show floor where there is a great danger of looking around to see to who else we could be selling to.
3/ Identify and anticipate needs. Customers don't buy products or services. They buy good feelings and solutions to problems. Most customer needs are emotional rather than logical. The more you know your customers, the better you become at anticipating their needs.
4/ Make customers feel important and appreciated by treating them as individuals. Always use their name when talking to them as it personalises their experience. People value sincerity and It creates good feeling and trust which hopefully builds a relationship which will lead to brand loyalty.
5/ Always look for ways to help your customers. When they have a request (as long as it is reasonable) tell them that you can do it and figure out how to later. Try to make doing business with you easy and always do what you say you are going to do.
6/ When something goes wrong, apologise. Customers appreciate it. Deal with problems immediately and let customers know what you have done. Make it simple for customers to complain and value their complaints as it gives us an opportunity to improve our service.

7/ Think of ways to elevate yourself above the competition. It can be a crowded market and by changing small aspects of your business it could lead to greater customer acquisition rates.

8/ Get regular feedback, encourage and welcome suggestions about how you could improve.

9/ Treat the people you work with well, they are your internal customers and need a regular dose of appreciation. Thank them and find ways to let them know how important they are.

10/ The golden rule of customer service is always put the customer first! Ensuring they have a positive experience when dealing with you should be your number one priority.

DNV Global Solutions on Brand Loyalty & Direct Marketing

Brand loyalty is defined as the tendency of some consumers to continue buying the same brand of goods rather than competing brands.

In the age of the internet, Brand Loyalty is slowly disappearing. Apart from a few exceptions, top brands aren't able to retain their status as market leaders as long as they used to. So what's changed? Before the internet people tended to make purchase decisions based on advertisements and past experiences with a company. However, a recent study by PricewaterhouseCoopers found that 80% of consumers now look at online reviews before making major purchases, and a host of studies have logged the strong influence those reviews have on the decisions people make.

So what can companies do to fix this? Alter their marketing strategy! At DNV Global Solutions, in our experience consumer confidence and brand loyalty go hand in hand. If a customer feels their buying experience has been positive and the customer care has been to a high standard then it instils greater consumer confidence which is something that will be considered when making future purchases.

A direct marketing campaign allows a company to get their message out to customers on an individual basis, rather than through a mass medium as with more traditional marketing methods. “I firmly believe that our approach of face to face marketing is one of the greatest advantages we have over our competitors. Having the opportunity to speak to someone face to face allows us to build a relationship with our customers. It is a much more personal approach than many other marketing strategies. Being able to greet customers with a smile and a handshake is what instils consumer confidence, which naturally builds brand loyalty. “ James Watson, Managing Director at DNV Global Solutions.

Many companies are now outsourcing their marketing and sales to companies like DNV Global Solutions. We put the customer first! By ensuring their experience is a positive one from start to finish we are able to instil consumer confidence which in turn produces higher acquisition rates for our clients while remaining extremely cost effective! The first time a consumer makes a purchase is the prime opportunity to build a relationship and begin to establish brand loyalty. By taking a more direct and personalised approach to marketing, consumer confidence and brand loyalty will simultaneously rise.

Through direct marketing we will continue to strive for customer satisfaction and brand loyalty for our clients.

DNV Global Solutions ~ Working Smarter, Not Harder

How many times have you found yourself saying “there aren't enough hours in the day”? Wishing there were 30 hours in a day instead of 24? We often found ourselves overwhelmed with the amount of work we have to complete on a daily basis. Here's some food for thought, work smarter not harder!

The main problem is getting bogged down with menial tasks rather than prioritising. Below are some excellent tips to help make your day run more smoothly and productively.

1/ Get An Early Start

It seems so simple but by starting your day earlier, you will inevitably be more productive. The urge to snooze your alarm in the morning plagues nearly all of us. Don't be tempted, get out of bed the first time your alarm goes and get your day started. It’s so much nicer and less stressful to get an earlier start on something.

2/ Complete The Most Important Tasks First

This is the golden rule of time management. Identify the tasks that are most crucial to be completed first allows you to get the most important tasks of the day out of the way first.

3/ Learn To Say “no”

Agreeing to help a colleague or attending a meeting you hadn't pre-planned for can set back your whole day. Although being able to juggle various engagements and manage your time well is a great skill to have, your main objective should be to take on only those commitments that you know you have time for.

4/ Devote Your Entire Energy & Focus To The Task At Hand

Don't allow yourself to be extracted by your phone or your favourite social media site.
Concentrate on one task. At a time. Concentrating solely on one things naturally produces greater results than trying to multi-task.

5/ Commit To Your Plan And Follow It Through

Don’t flake on your own plan to do something! Be resolute. Be committed. Be professional about it, and follow through. A will to accomplish what you decide to accomplish will take you anywhere.

DNV Global Solutions On The Benefits Of Direct Marketing

As the fastest growing Events Marketing company in Scotland, DNV Global Solutions explore the benefits of Direct Marketing and why more and more companies are turning away from traditional forms of advertising and marketing to outsource the work to companies like ours.

* By using Direct Marketing it enables companies to inform customers directly about new offers and promotions.

* It can be used to experiment in new markets and test new products providing information for future campaigns.

* It is more cost-effective than other marketing methods.

* It can help build a more personal relationship with customers, instilling greater consumer confidence, in turn achieving greater sales.

* It allows companies to focus on specific groups of targeted customers for better results.

* It can provide direct feedback, which in turn helps monitor and review the current marketing strategy.

* The results are quantifiable with a more accurate estimate of the conversion rate, thus helping plan for future campaigns more effectively.

In the current economic climate where many companies are looking to slash their budgets it is a no brainer to turn to outsourcing and Direct Marketing.  What we do is measurable which means companies know the return they get for their investment.  At DNV Global Solutions we provide a very effective service while keeping it extremely cost effective.

DNV Global Solutions Look Into The Influence Of Technology on Advertising?

The world in which we now live is extremely fast paced. We've become accustomed to having things done at the touch of a button. We are impatient and don't like to have to wait, the same ideology applies to Television. Why watch adverts when you now have the luxury of fast forwarding through pre recorded programmes? As more and more people are changing the way they watch TV with the introduction of platforms such as Sky Go, Sky Plus, Virgins Tivo and other alternatives, the question has to be asked, how will technology influence companies marketing?

Research shows that 86% of people fast forward through adverts when watching shows they've pre-recorded. With companies paying large sums of money on advertising campaigns, especially during prime time programming, it is inevitable they may begin to consider spending their budget on alternative marketing methods. While it is undeniable the massive impact that a TV advertisement has it also unmeasurable in terms of customer acquisition rates. A company is unable to ascertain the percentage of customers who purchased or subscribed to their products/services based on a TV advertising campaign.

“I predict that more companies will start to opt for more direct marketing strategies. How, where and when people watch TV has changed, therefore so will companies approach to advertising. One of the reasons DNV has continued to go from strength to strength is our personalised, cost effective marketing methods. Our ability to plan and implement a direct marketing campaign in a short space of time, generating high customer acquisition rates, rapidly increasing our clients Brand Awareness and Market Share has made our business model extremely attractive to many companies .” ~ Managing Director, James Watson

DNV Global Solutions Recommended Reading

Knowledge is power.  The more you know the further you can go.  Learning is the key to success! Managing Director, James Watson, has provided a short blurb on 5 books that have had a positive influence on him personally and professionally.

1/ Who Moved My Cheese? ~ Spencer Johnson

This book explores how easily people can adapt to their environment. It taught me to be open to change and that sometimes you have to change with the times in home and business. It also showed me how important it is not to be set in your ways and to learn to adapt to different situations life throws at you.

2/ How To Win Friends And Influence People ~ Dale Carnegie

Reading this book changed how I my perception on life. I read it when I was 23 years old and just starting out in business. It taught me how to win people over not just in business but also in life. It taught me to be a better person and I personally found it to be life changing.

3/ Screw Business as Usual ~ Richard Branson

This book teaches you that in order to achieve great success you often have to be adventurous and think outside the box. Don't be a sheep be a leader. It explains the importance of taking risks in business.

4/ 7 Habits of Highly Effective People ~ Stephen Covey

I knew Bill Clinton had read it and invited the author to be a consultant to give him advice on becoming a better president. It talks about different roles in life and improving, not just work, but also in your personal life. It teaches you how to be a better friend, father, husband, son etc by having a well balanced lifestyle.

5/ Personality Plus ~ Dr Florence Littauer

Reading Personality Plus taught me how to deal with and understand different types of people. It also makes the point that nobody is better, just different. It changed the way I looked at being a Manager and since reading this book I've changed the way that I manage people.

At DNV Global Solutions: No Degree? No Problem!

Following the recent announcement that 47% of Graduates are working in jobs not related to their Degree, it made us realise how much more competitive the job market has become.  At DNV Global Solutions we believe that companies are losing out on extremely talented individuals because they are over looked for not having a degree. Many businesses wont even consider applicants without a Degree, whereas at DNV we aren't prejudice.

“I believe there are a lot of extremely talented individuals working with DNV who wouldn't have even been considered by other companies because of a lack of Degree or experience on their CV.  I often find that the people who are just looking for an opportunity to get their foot in the door, make up for their lack of experience by bringing a great passion and enthusiasm which has seen many of them blossom into key players in our offices.” ~ Managing Director James Watson

With the New Year fast approaching, a time where many are considering their options and are looking to change careers, we are excited to have the opportunity to find the next wave of talented individuals to help take our business forward and hit our expansion plans for 2014.

It's Competition Time At DNV Global Solutions

At DNV Global Solutions we have the firm belief that people should be rewarded adequately for consistently performing to a high standard. We know competition can bring out the best in people, having something to aim for and a goal in sight can act as a motivation for people to go that extra mile in order to attain greater results. As an incentive, in the run up to Christmas, we are running a massive competition for the four top performers to win a trip to Barcelona.

"The competition to attend the awards ceremony in Barcelona is my way of thanking the incredible people we work with. Competition definitely brings out the best in people which has been proven as we've had record breaking weeks back to back since the competition was announced." ~ Managing Director James Watson.

The lucky winners will accompany Managing Director, James Watson, when he flies out to Barcelona to attend the International Sales Rally in Spain. DNV Global Solutions: Giving Back

Rainbow Valley was inspired by the vision of Johanna MacVicar, who in 1994, at age 16 years was diagnosed with Leukaemia. After an 11 year battle, Johanna sadly lost her fight against the illness. Johanna’s mother, Angela, together with family & friends created the charitable organisation Rainbow Valley, to bring Johanna’s dream to fruition. The goal for Rainbow Valley is to raise £1 million over the next two years to allow for the construction of the Rainbow Valley facility, which will benefit everyone affected by cancer.

In order to contribute to the Fundraising, James Watson Managing Director at DNV Global Solutions, took part in the Trossachs 10k, coming in at number 57. The event raised £4350 in total for Rainbow Valley. The next challenge he will be taking up Is to climb Ben Nevis, the event is planned for next year on June 15th.

I am extremely fortunate for all that I have both personally and professionally and I feel that it's time to start giving back. I've never been involved with any Charity before and I feel that Rainbow Valley is the perfect cause. I am a fitness fanatic and I my goal is to use my passion to raise a lot for money over the coming years by taking part in physical challenges.” ~ James Watson, Managing Director.

The Charity will be hosting it's annual Rainbow Valley Ball which will be taking place at the Thistle hotel, in Glasgow, on the 16th November. DNV Global Solutions Countdown to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014

It's officially one year today until the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. With the news last week that the London Olympics boosted the UK economy by £9.9 billion we were keen to find out what sort of impact is predicted by Glasgow hosting the 2014 Commonwealth Games. According to the office “Glasgow2014” website, business opportunities worth more than £50 million are expected to be generated over the next six months. From the construction to catering sectors, businesses across Scotland are already feeling the benefits, winning contracts resulting from the Games. Spending on construction and refurbishment of Games venues and the Athletes’ village has provided around 1,000 jobs per year. In the current economic climate where unemployment is such a prominent problem in society, an event which can provide employment opportunities on such a large scale is always welcome.

It's not only the job market which is being boosted by the games, Glasgow, specifically the East End, is undergoing a major transformation. 64 hectares of derelict or contaminated land has been regenerated since 2009, with 1,500 new homes built and planned for a new community. 400 jobs for long-term unemployed have been committed through community benefit clauses.

According to the official “Glasgow2014” website “85% of Glaswegians already believe the Games will have a positive impact on their city” Glasgow already has a tourist industry of approximately 2 million visitors each year and Glasgow 2014 will showcase the city to a global TV audience of 1.5 billion which can only be a good thing.

Here at DNV Global Solutions we await the games with great anticipation and excitement and hope there will be many Scottish athletes that create their own bit of history on home soil.

DNV Global Solutions Growth in 2013

Due to the tremendous success we have experienced in the first half of 2013, exceeding company and client expectations, we have just acquired one of the UK's leading Tele-communications providers to our portfolio.  They provide phone and broadband services to businesses and consumers in the United Kingdom, they have recently branched into the Digital TV market and they want DNV Global Solutions to help them increase their market share throughout Scotland. Our tailor made marketing campaigns are what makes DNV an attractive outsourcing prospect for many industry leaders. Our personalised approach of greeting customers with a smile and a handshake is what sets us apart from our competitors. Our business model isn't dependent on place or product and can easily be adapted to suit specific client needs. We believe the acquisition of our new client is the catalyst to meeting our expansion plans for the rest of the year. With this new client we will be conducting our sales and marketing campaign through Events based sales in pre-booked events throughout Scotland including: Corporate Events, In-Store promotions, Trade shows etc. It's a new platform for us and we are excited about branching into a new area.

Our goals is to expand our business into other UK markets in early 2014 then taking DNV international moving into Australia in the last Financial Quarter. They are big goals, especially in the current economic climate where the idea of expanding so rapidly may seem ludicrous, however we fully believe that with the incredible team we have and the amazing client portfolio at our disposal the opportunities for personal and profession growth are limitless.  As our motto says, we are first and foremost a development business and our main goal is to provide everyone with the opportunity for personal and professional growth.

"Managing a company like DNV where everyone is judged on individual merit, and provided with the same opportunity regardless of experience or qualifications is extremely satisfying.  Every day is different and proposes new challenges and obstacles to overcome.  The harder the fight, the greater the victory and I am confident we will meet our goals"

DNV Global Solutions On Why Outsourcing Is Good For Your Business

WHY OUTSOURCING IS GOOD FOR YOUR BUSINESS
With the U.K. economy going from bad to worse, recently entering into a triple dip recession, many large corporations are looking for ways to slash their budgets while maintaining high levels of productivity. Most companies are now understandably cautious about spending large sums on traditional media and print methods of advertising and are therefore turning to companies like DNV Global Solutions to conduct the sales & marketing of their products through tried and tested, cost effective methods. Outsourcing in laymen’s terms basically means handing over the reigns to a firm specialising in marketing & sales rather than keeping the project in house.

In business terms outsourcing is described as the contracting out of an internal business process to a third party organization. The practice of contracting out a business process rather than staffing it internally is a common feature in the modern economy. Often the tasks that are outsourced could be performed by the company itself, but in many cases there are financial advantages that come from outsourcing. Outsourcing can offer greater budget flexibility and control. Outsourcing lets organizations pay for only the services they need, when they need them. It also reduces the need to hire and train specialized staff, brings in fresh engineering expertise, and reduces capital and operating expenses.

We can break down outsourcing strategies into three broad categories that meet different goals:
  • Efficiency – the first step in an outsourcing strategy is to achieve cost savings, typically through process efficiences.
  • Enhancement – once cost savings have been realized the next stage is to achieve operational improvements related to business objectives such compliance and meeting availability expectations
  • Transformation – business transformation is the end goal for an outsourcing strategy, where an outsourcing relationship is used to drive business performance improvements

With the economy continuing into a downward spiral, with no signs of coming out of recession any time soon we expect the number of companies turning to outsourcing to rise. It's no coincidence that Direct Sales has been the fastest growing industry in the world for the last 3 years. It's a recession proof industry that's going from strength to strength and here at DNV Global Solutions we're excited to be a part of that. Our personalised approach and tailor made marketing strategies have made our business model highly attractive for many blue chip corporations which is why we have an ever growing client portfolio.

Summer & Expansion at DNV Global Solutions

We are really excited to have just acquired a new client to add to our already prestigious portfolio. Our new client, the UK’s leading security company for over 50 years, ADT, is going to play a key role in us achieving our huge goals in 2013 and beyond. ADT want usto be one of their primary sources for acquiring new customers in 2013. With this new campaign comes tremendous growth opportunities for everyone involved with our new campaign as they look to Increase market share and expand representation all throughout the U.K. Our tailor made marketing strategies are what makes us unique in our approach to customer acquisition. By using a more personalised approach by greeting customers with a smile and a handshake, this gives us the edge over our competitors.

Our goal is to quadrupole the size of our organisation in 2013 by expanding into Dundee, Edinburgh and Newcastle. Over the Summer months our sole focus is to triple the size of our Flagship office in Glasgow as we will be opening our Dundee office on June 3rd. It's vital that our office in Glasgow is left in a strong position as we will be bringing some of our top performers with us to help launch our new office. Coming into Summer,  it's the perfect time to put our expansion plans in place. Summer is the time of the year where Students are looking to gain some experience and have fun for 3 months and also where Graduates are looking to integrate themselves into the Business world.

Our business model allows us to be able to accommodate both types of individuals. In 3 short months, between college/university breaking up for the Summer, we are able to provide individuals key skills for business success that would usually take 5 years to have the chance to learn in other businesses. For the Graduates just starting out, it can be a daunting prospect applying for jobs in the current economic climate where there aren't many companies offering Graduate positions and where many companies are looking for work experience. Our Business Development Programme is a perfect fit for Graduates looking to put the skills they learned studying into practice. It's no coincidence that Direct Sales has been the fastest growing industry in the world for the last 3 years, it's recession proof and can offer tremendous development opportunities.

If you think you could see yourself flourishing working with DNV Global Solutions visit our website www.dnv-global-solutions.co.uk and submit your C.V. Today.

It's that time of year where Graduates and school leavers are beginning to take their first steps into the job market. In the current economic climate with the UK recently entering a triple dip recession It's become an extremely tough and competitive time especially with many companies requiring applicants to have relevant experience. DNV Global Solutions National Sales Rally 2013 Winners

On January 12th DNV Global Solutions attended the National Sales Rally at the Royal Festival Hall in London.  It’s the Oscars of our industry, 3000 people celebrating an incredible year and recognising the individuals who performed the best in 2012.   It was a great day and an incredible chance to hear motivational and inspirational stories from the people who collected the most prestigious awards. It provided the opportunity to hear invaluable information first hand from the top people in our industry as well as having the chance to network with the award winners.

Some of the business partners we work with in Glasgow were winners on the day.   Thanks to an incredible start to her programme, quickly learning all the sales/marketing strategies and applying all her training to become one of the top people in the office in such a short space of time, Abbey Stirling was rewarded for her hard work by winning the Rising Star award.  Another winner on the day was Cameron Macleod who picked up the Top Performer award.  Cameron has been working with DNV from day 1, he’s been involved with several campaigns and has taken each new challenge head on and come out on top.  Both Abbey and Cameron are important factors in our expansion plans.   A member of our Administration staff, Briony Quinn, was also recognised for her hard work and achievements in 2012 by winning Administrator of the year.  Briony is an invaluable member of our office by making sure all the back end of the business runs smoothly.

"We’re incredibly lucky to have such ambitious and enthusiastic people working with our company and it’s due to the amazing people we work with that makes us so confident in believing we can achieve the big goals we have set for this year." ~ Managing Director, James Watson.

DNV Global Solutions' Goals for 2013

The tremendous success we experienced in our first year of business has really set the bar high and has driven us to make sure that 2013 is bigger and better!  The foundations we laid in 2012 have provided a strong business model and communication network to ensure that we continue to thrive.  We want to establish ourselves as one of the leading direct sales companies in the UK.  as well as taking on the competition we want to grow our organisation.  We have been lucky enough to develop a group of ambitious and driven individuals who are not just committed to their own personal success but are also working hard to make our goals a reality.  We’ve started the year with offices in Newcastle and Glasgow and we want to build on that.  We want to expand further throughout the UK with our main goal being to open up in Dundee by the end of the first financial quarter of this year.  We believe the Dundee office could be the Launchpad for doubling our organisation in size in the UK.  However, we aren’t satisfied with just conquering the UK market.  Our main focus for this year is to make DNV Global Solutions a truly global company.  We have targeted Australia as our first international office location and we firmly believe that we will have our first Australian office up and running by August.   Moving into the final quarter of 2013 our main goal is to have 4 established office locations in the UK and that our Australian office is thriving and ready to be the flagship for future international expansion.

Our goals are extremely big and may seem unrealistic to some given the current economic climate, however we are in a recession proof industry that is going from strength to strength and we strongly believe that with the excellent base of people we have working with DNV and the incredible Blue Chip clients we have managed to secure for our portfolio that the possibilities are endless!  We are currently working with 2 of the UK’s leading companies within Charity Fundraising and Home Security.  Our clients are continually looking to increase exposure and therefore and always supportive of any expansion plans we may have.

2013 is going to be an incredible year for many people involved with DNV Global Solutions; we can’t wait to write about our amazing achievements this time next year!

DNV Global Solutions Reflect on a Momentous Year

As it comes closer to the end of the year, here at DNV Global Solutions we wanted to reflect on the past 12 months and look forward to making 2013 even better!  It’s been an incredible year for everyone involved with DNV.  Starting the year with one office in Newcastle and one client, we’ve now expanded into Scotland opening a flag ship office in Glasgow and we’ve been incredibly lucky to add 2 of the most recognised brands within Home Security and Charity Fundraising to our client portfolio.  Along the way we’ve managed to assemble a group of amazing men and women who share our passion and enthusiasm for what we do and who are working hard to help make our expansion goals a reality.  Our people are our business and our mission is to provide an abundance of learning opportunities for everyone in order to enable them to reach their full potential.

Expansions plans

Our goal for 2013 is to open an office in Dundee by the end of the first Financial Quarter.   We’re really excited about moving into an unexplored market and we believe that Dundee could prove to be the first step in making DNV one of the most successful direct Sales companies in the UK.   DNV has the potential to be a recognised business internationally and our aim is to open an office in Australia in 2014.

Managing Director James Watson added “This year was a learning curve; we were like the rookie team moving up from the lower division into the big time.  Now we’ve found our feet I’m confident DNV will be the one to watch in 2013, it’s going to be a huge year for everyone involved!”

We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
